ROADDS FOUNDATION
Rising Above All Odds
At ROADDS Foundation we’re focused on providing those in need with the means to afford an education. We have partnered with an Indian non-profit organization, Sarvoday Saraswati Mandir, to help sponsor an orphanage and an educational institution serving over 500 students.

Our Mission
Here at ROADDS Foundation we are driven by a single goal; supporting children in their pursuit of education. We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization and our main impact comes from providing our partner non-profit with financial support.
For over 75 years Sarvoday Saraswati Mandir (SSM) has worked relentlessly to provide their local rural community with access to basic educational facilities. In this time they have established a network of 15 local high schools, an orphanage, and a primary school teachers training college. They focus on providing equal opportunities to women and the economically and socially underprivileged.

Sponsor a Child
SSM currently supports over 30 children in the balghar (orphanage) as well as over 60 underprivileged students whose families cannot afford to send them to school.
For $400 a year you can help pay for a child's tuition, room & board, school supplies, and food.

Fund Ongoing Projects
As ROADDS looks ahead to support the work of Sarvoday Saraswati Mandir in the next year, we ask for your support to fund specific priorities:
-
Building an electrical safety fence around the Ashram campus to protect the students and residents from the dangers of the encroaching Asiatic lion and leopard populations. The stark impacts of human development and climate change are now encroaching on the community thus these important safety measures will bring peace of mind to the campus at a cost of $30,000;
-
Continuing the electrification initiative (mentioned in the accomplishments below) by installing solar panels on the central kitchen and the main assembly hall building. These important infrastructure updates will help mitigate the impacts of climate disasters and create a path to energy independence. This project will cost $20,000;
-
Upgrading 50 computers in the language lab to ensure students have the ability to build computer literacy and access educational materials on the internet. These important technology and connectivity investments will come at a cost of $20,000;
-
Restoring degraded farm land that has been destroyed by major flooding. This farm land will be used to grow fruits and vegetables to feed the Ashram community and provide supplemental income for the institution. This project protects the institution from the effects of climate change and sustains the quality of soil upon which the institution and it's neighbors depend. This project will require an investment of $20,000;
-
Installing a rain water harvesting system that will be used to water crops and power the sanitation system. This will require the repurposing and refurbishing of 5 abandoned water tanks on campus at a cost of $15,000;
-
Continuing to financially support ~30 Balghar and ~60 high school students at an annual cost of $400 per student (cost $36,000 annually)
-
Funding quarterly Teacher’s Training Workshops aimed both at professional development of educators and pedagogical innovation that enhances student learning outcomes. Four annual workshop's cast $3,000.
-
Maintaining the institutions 18 buildings; women's Primary Teachers Training College and hostel, the high school, science labs, high school dormitories, food storage pantry, Balghar, and workers housing at an annual cost of $15,000.
-
Starting the project plan for a library of books, music, and cultural artifacts to preserve the legacy of the Ashram's teachings.

2025 Accomplishments
Paving the way for a bright future

Electrifying the future
Solar panel installation
With the generous help of our donors, the Ashram was able to kick off an electrification initiative aimed at providing energy independence while reducing energy costs. The two building completed in 2025 were the Orphanage (Balghar) and Science student dormitories. In addition to the addition of solar panels, new sections of roofing were built to house the new infrastructure.

Protecting their cattle
Restoring the Gaushala Cowshed
The Ashram community has been battling the effects of climate change in many ways. One danger that has become stark reality is the presence of Asiatic lions and leopards whose home in the nearby Gir forest has been impacted by human development. These predators have now encroached on the Ashram community and have killed many cows in the past few years. These indigenous cows are an integral part of the Ashram ecosystem, providing dairy and farm labor.

Nature's fuel
Constructing a biogas facility
Another initiative that is tackling a problem a public health problem with a climate friendly solution is the introduction of a biogas facility. This facility aims to use natural inputs found readily in the Ashram to create cooking fuel to be used in the central kitchen and nearby homes. This will reduce the health impacts of cooking with firewood and provide nutrient rich fertilizers to the local community.

STEM & Health Focus
The Elements of Success
A variety of student camps were held in 2025. From an Ayurvedic Health camp to a STEM camp (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) students were provided with enriching learning opportunities that were aimed at building community and empowering leadership within the student body.
